Tournament Champions Dierbergs Telegraph
After the dust had cleared on the softball ball diamonds Aug. 12, UFCW Local 655
crowned Dierbergs-Telegraph as our 2015 Softball Tournament Champion.
This year’s five-day event featured 30 teams who braved scorching temperaturesand heavy mosquito bombardment to stake their respective claims to the title.
On the night of the playoff games, Dierbergs-Telegraph was unstoppable. They
opened their championship night by besting Schnucks-Dorsett, then taking Schnucks-
Cottleville/Mid-Rivers in the semi-finals. Lake St. Louis Schnucks took on
Telegraph in the championship game after a late-game rally propelled them ahead of the reigning champions from Schnucks-Dardenne in their semi-final match up. In the final, however, the Lake St. Louis squad couldn’t quite match Dierberg-Telegraph’s big bats, and had to console themselves with first runner-up honors.
Despite the two rainout days all attendees had a great time both playing and cheering
their teams on at our new tournament home the Bridgeton Municipal Athletic Complex.
