More than 20 contracts have been on hold waiting on the completion of the Greater St. Louis Food Employers Council (GSLFEC) negotiations. Since ratification of that contract on June 11, Director of Collective Bargaining Garry Torpea and other staff at Local 655 have been working to get those contracts bargained and ratified.
Members at Sika/Greenstreak ratified their contract on Tuesday, July 15 by a 77 percent margin. The agreement, which ensures quality affordable Health Care, also has substantial pay increases over the next five years. Torpea was assisted by Kevin Ryan and members Dean Schneiders and Larry Wisdom.
Members at Kroger ratified a new contract by a 72 percent margin on Sunday, July 27. The agreement mirrors the recently ratified GSLFEC contract which ensures quality affordable Health Care and Retirement benefits for our members with modest raises and ensures Kroger the ability to compete. Torpea was assisted by Nick Trupiano, Rick Glidewell, Robert Spence and Kroger employees Alicia McClelland and John Shaw.
Members at Straub’s also ratified their contract several days later on Wednesday, July 30 by an 87 percent margin. The agree- ment mirrors the recently ratified GSLFEC contract which ensures quality affordable Health Care and Retirement benefits for our members with modest raises and en- sures Straub’s the ability to compete. In addition there were other language changes to bring it more in line with the GSLFEC contract. Secretary-Treasurer David Politte was assisted by Recorder Nancy Parker and member Dana Constantine.
