An Update from President David Cook:
If you have worked and/or been scheduled in a Local 88 department in the past four weeks, we have the following update: Effective Monday March 15 you will no longer be allowed to work in a different union’s department. It is my understanding that the Company will be working to move your scheduled shifts for next week to other Local 655 departments for the schedule already written. If you have problem regarding this schedule, please reach out to your Local 655 union representative.
In addition, the Company will be discussing what options are available for you long term to remain a member of Local 655 and what options there are in Local 655 departments. It is my understanding that in some cases the Company may have the ability and desire to offer to keep you working in a Local 88 department permanently. I want to point out the company cannot require you to change unions, you have the right to exercise your seniority to stay in Local 655. However, if you would like to move into Local 88 please make sure to check with Local 88 regarding what would happen to your benefits such as Health & Welfare, Pension, where you would go on the seniority list and how many hours you would be available.
If you have any questions please contact your union representative.
