The staff of Local 655 would like to take this opportunity to thank Dave Politte for his 23 years of service to our Union. For 23 years, Dave Politte was a passionate advocate for each and every member of Local 655. When Dave ascended to the role of Secretary-Treasurer, his job was to oversee the finances of this local. In this capacity, the members of this Union could ask for no better ally. A vigilant watchdog, Dave wouldn’t spend a dime unless he was certain it would somehow benefit the members we serve.
A true perfectionist, he had no problem having any of us rework a project multiple times until it was perfect. While he might have claimed to be a tough critic, we all knew that his demands were borne of a sincere desire to do the best job possible for the 10,000+ members we serve every day. He always said “best effort best quality in everything you do,” as his own personal mantra. If you always give your best effort, and did the best quality work, you were doing what the membership deserves.
Dave never took the easy way of simply answering our questions and sending us on our way. No, he would sit with us and walk us through how to get the answer so we would be better prepared for the future. Always willing to share his knowledge to help us be prepared for when this day (his retirement) came.
Simply put, Dave Politte made Local 655 a better and stronger Union.
We will miss you, Dave. We wish you a happy and long retirement.
Signed,
The Staff of UFCW Local 655
