UFCW Local 655 is now using an all-digital servicing program that will make Union Representatives more efficient and better able to serve their members. This new digital program represents a significant change in the way Local 655 engages with hard-working members in the workplace.
We recognize that, in the digital age, many people have significant concerns about their private information being kept secure. We know this is a top priority and have taken serious steps to ensure that our member’s private information is safe.
Below are some frequently asked questions about this new program along with answers to help guide you through this new change.
What member information will be stored on the devices?
Because EMMA is a cloud based solution no member information will need to be stored on the device. All information is stored in a secure offsite location using end to end encryption.
Has or will staff be trained in the use of effective passwords that will be difficult to hack?
EMMA requires the use of complex passwords containing numeric and special characters.
Will the system require that passwords are changed on a regular basis?
EMMA does not require passwords to be changed however we will require regular updates (changing) passwords.
Will device storage be encrypted?
Device storage will not be encrypted as no sensitive information will be stored on the device.
Has or will staff be trained to avoid connecting devices to open public wifi connections?
We are using iPad with data access so staff will not need to connect to public wifi. However, since all communication from device to server is encrypted, no information can be compromised even on an open connection.
If the devices are accessing data remotely will they be using a secure VPN?
All communication is secured end to end
How will physical security of the devices be handled to minimize the possibility of loss or theft?
All iPads are password protected so that no one can unlock the device without the correct credentials. Furthermore, EMMA allows for remote inactivation of accounts so that if a device is compromised the user logged will be blocked from the system.
How is the information transmitted to and from employers?
All information transmitted to and from employers is encrypted.
