The culture of any organization, corporation and union alike can be defined as the way its people behave. For example, when you enter a local union grocery store, 655 members are the creators of a warm and friendly atmosphere – an integral part of our jobs unmistakably.
At Local 655, it is our communication goal to create a member-focused culture that is both friendly and effective. When our members are friendly and courteous it helps in multiple ways
First it ties the customers to our employers. The more loyal our customers are to our employers, the more business our employers do, which in turn allows us to bargain for better contracts. Also the better the public perceives our union members the better chance we have to grow the size of our union. Growing our union strengthens our union.
One of the many objectives of our Local is to embrace and protect the importance of our members as professionals who provide excellent customer service – an attribute we hold in high esteem.
At Local 655 we believe in four values:
- Put the member first.
- We only succeed through cooperation with our members.
- We work to improve the lives of our members.
- I can make a difference.
Such values give way to the basic operating principles in which Local 655 strives to positively impact our membership.
When faced with new opportunities, tough decisions, or contract negotiations we always keep these guidelines in the forefront of our minds:
Our members are No.1 priority
- Look after our members and they will look after us
- •Everything we do must benefit our membership at large
- Listen to our members and go the extra mile
If we all work together and provide good customer service it will benefit us today and in the future.
