The Wentzville Mayor is looking to add a 1% sales tax on many local businesses to pay for a pet project for Stan Kroenke’s development team. Why should existing businesses in Wentzville pay to subsidize a billionaire? St. Louis has already been burned by the Kroenke team. Why would we let it happen in Wentzville? It appears that Stan Kroenke wants to build a non-union grocery store with this development. We believe the people of Wentzville shouldn’t have to pay higher taxes at a good union store that pays a living wage and benefits to subsidize building a non-union competitor.
